Stephen Clothier has a Master’s degree in Classical Languages and Literature from McMaster University, in Hamilton, Ontario, the subject of his thesis being Cyrus the Great, the founder of the Persian Empire. Its title: Greek Perspectives on Cyrus and His Conquests.
As an undergrad, in addition to Greek and Latin, Stephen studied Sanskrit and Biblical Hebrew, and has had a life-long interest in Ancient Near Eastern History – in particular, as it relates to Old Testament studies.
Other passions of his include: historical linguistics (both Indo-European and Semitic), the Italian Language, Greek and Roman mythology, folklore, the occult, Art History, classic Hollywood films, and stamp-collecting.
Quite recently he became interested in genealogy and, on his father’s side, has succeeded in tracing his descent through multiple lines from virtually every noble and royal family in Europe, going back to Charlemagne and the Merovingian kings. As for his maternal side, he is descended from several noble families in Southern Italy, with distant ancestry going back to the rulers of the House of Savoy. Stephen lives on a six-acre forested lot in the heart of the Niagara Region.
